WHAT IS A HOME WATCH SERVICE ? A home watch service is designed to give you peace of mind while you are away from your home. Home watch is essentially an inspection of a vacant home or unoccupied property, looking for obvious issues. Our service can be customized to meet your needs but typically includes both interior and exterior inspections and over 50 check points that we review with each visit.
HOME WATCH or HOUSE SITTING? Home Watch Services are often referred to as: house watching services, house checks, home checker, home checking residential house visits, property management, vacant home watch service, unoccupied home watch service, property watch service or snowbird home watch services. House sitting generally refers to having someone live in your house full time while you are away. We don't live in your house. We don't sleep in your bed. We don't eat your food. We visit as often as needed, inspect the outside and inside of your home, complete a 50 point check list and then leave. Before leaving your driveway we email you an official report and pictures so that you have peace of mind knowing your home is safe and secure.
WHY DO I NEED A HOME WATCH SERVICE ? So many things can happen to your unoccupied home in your absence: break-ins, squatters, water leaks, electrical problems, insects, wildlife, vandalism and storm damage are all very common issues. Most insurance companies require vacant or unoccupied properties to be inspected as often as every 72 hours. Failure to do so may result in your insurance claim being denied. Please check with your insurance company to see what their requirements are for absentee owners.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN YOUR SERVICE? The scope of work is largely determined by your level of risk tolerance, budget and home insurance policy or condo/strata title by-laws. Your unique situation deserves a customized solution to fit your needs and budget. We offer fully customized packages for our clients. Our full service exterior and interior inspection includes over 50 check points. Included with each visit is an electronic report that includes a copy of your inspection checklist and photos taken at your home. The report is sent out immediately following each visit via email. WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS DURING MY ABSENCE? We will make scheduled visits to your vacant home during your absence. If an issue does arise, we will contact you immediately to discuss the best options for dealing with the situation, thus eliminating the risk of additional damage and costs. In the case of a break in we will contact the police on your behalf and meet them at your home to file a report.
WHY CAN'T MY NEIGHBOUR TAKE CARE OF MY HOME ? Friends and neighbors can be very helpful feeding pets and taking in the mail, but they may not have what it takes to truly check your home for a variety of issues. With Ottawa Home Watch you will have the security of knowing that we are thoroughly checking your home at regular intervals and sending you official reports after each inspection. Our fee is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Prior to beginning our services he will meet you at your home to customize your inspection checklist and to tour your home with you. WHAT IF MY TRIP GETS CANCELLED? No problem. You can cancel anytime, no questions asked. You will only ever be billed for visits that we have completed.
